A status stolen from FB but I thought it was worth sharing

With the New Year, it's almost time to empty that suitcase..you know the one we all carry around everyday. Chock full of fears, insecurity, anger, hate. Each New Year we are given a brand new suitcase, fresh, clean and most of all, empty. We spend the next 365 days stuffing every bad emotion, every wrong ever done to us or wrong we ever done to others. It finally gets so heavy, we can no longer lift it & are forced to drag it. This year, fill your suitcase with Joy, Faith, Love & Kindness...it will be light as a feather and a pleasure to carry around..and see how high you can fly ...what are you going to fill yours with? ♥ ♥

this article is amazing if you are thinking of becoming a vegetarian.

Almost 2013

I can't sleep for the urge to write.  So here I am.  Laid in bed for an hour thinking about the difference between resolutions and goals.  Because I won't be making any resolutions this year.  What I will be doing is reaching for several goals that I am going to set for myself for 2013.  Some are financial, some are physical and some are just spiritual.  Those last ones are still mostly unknown yet.

So here is a definition for "resolutions":

a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.

"Goals" :

the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.

So I am not just "resolved" to reach my goals...I WILL REACH MY GOALS!

People make resolutions all over the place on the 31st, but not many make it past the 1st of January.

My goals are concrete and are not vague.  They are measurable and have ends!

They include, in no particular order:

  • run a 1/2 Marathon in August
  • reach my goal weight of 160 pounds (by the time I run the 1/2 in August)
  • save enough money for a tummy tuck
  • replace my husband's income with my 2nd line of income, so he can quit his office job
  • be well on the way to my own retirement from cubicle land (I don't even have one of those!)
  • empty out my storage locker
  • get out of debt (as much as possible)
Wow...that's lots of goals...none of them are "immediate".  Mostly long term goals with a fewer shorter term goals in amongst them.

I have others of course, like eat healthier, get rid of gluten again, and as much dairy as I can, out of my diet.  I just don't think I can do without cheese...or eggs.  The rest can be gone.

I don't eat beef (ok very very rarely) and I also rarely drink milk, usually chocolate if at all.  I always pay for it later.  Eggs are a staple for me.  Not totally sure if I am intolerant to those too.  I just assume I am.  Hmm...should dig out the papers on that allergy testing I had done and remind myself what it says.

No pork for this girl either.  I eat chicken and moose.  Someday I am sure I will be vegetarian...maybe even vegan, but I just haven't quite figured out how to do it yet, in a house of carnivores.

Happy 12 12 12!

To Whom it May Concern:

Mrs. Claus and I regret to inform you that effective immediately, I will no longer be able to service the Southern United States on Christmas Eve. Due to overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. I now serve only the northern portion of the United States.

As part of the new and better contra

ct I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind.

However, I’m certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls. However, there are a few differences between us, including:

1. There is no danger of a Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads: “These toys insured by Smith & Wesson.”

2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave a RC Cola and peanut patty (or a Moon Pie) on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn’t smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy.

3. Bubba Claus’ sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin’ coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen’s head now overlooks Bubba’s fireplace.

4. You won’t hear “On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen…” when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead you’ll hear, “On Earnhardt, on Wallace, on Martin and LaBonte. On Rudd, on Jarrett, on Elliot and Petty.”

5. “Ho, ho, ho!” has been replaced by “Yee Haw!” And you also are likely to hear Bubba’s elves reply, “I her’d dat!”

6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus’ sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words, “Back Off!”

7. Bubba Claus doesn’t wear a belt. If I were you, I’d make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree.

8. Bubba Claus refuses to wear the standard issue Santa cap because he says it makes him look like a girly-boy. He has been granted permission to wear a white Stetson with a red band instead, as well as black cowboy boots.

Sincerely Yours,

Santa Claus

Happy Tuesday!

" A man wakes up one morning to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there’s an ad for “Bear Removers.” He calls the number, and the bear remover says he’ll be over in 30 minutes.

The bear remover arrives and gets out of his van. He has a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old dog.

“What are you going to do,” the homeowner asks.

“I’m going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I’m going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off, the dog is trained to grab his private parts and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van.”

He then hands the shotgun to the homeowner.

“What’s the shotgun for?” asks the homeowner.

“If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog.”

I need to vent

and since I cant do it on FB without the whole world reading it, I will blog it..:)

How can someone I've known for over 5 years, who I've supported thru every crazy decision you've made, who's dog I walked when you were sick, who's puke I cleaned up when you couldn't handle it, who asked me to deliver pain killers and doobies to when you were too sick to get out of bed, who I listened to many times when you were having trouble with your relationships, who was my Maid of Honour at my wedding, who's wedding I preformed, who welcomed me into your home many times, who I pulled into MY circle of friends because you were my friend, just throw our "friendship" that all away for "perceived" wrongs? The ones you made up in your head?  How could you possibly know I was pissed off at you since you never asked me, not even once?  Gee, I guess the friendship was one sided that whole time because I sure thought we were friends.  At least I cared about you. And no, not knowing my phone number, in this age of technology, is not a reason to say we weren't friends.   I sent an email to you with my heart on my sleeve weeks ago and you can’t even bother to reply.  Ya, I guess we were just client and trainer after all and I just had the wool pulled over my eyes the whole time. It must have just about the money then, because when I stopped training, you didn't even bother to contact me at all.  I must have been paying for your time all along. I guess if your friends don't chase you down, then they are beneath you.

I’m just glad your true self has shown herself.  I knew it was just a matter of time before I fell from your good graces…seems like everyone does eventually.  At least I won’t waste the next 5 years with someone who doesn’t care about me anyway.

Friday Funny

A Mainlander, a Nova Scotian, and an Newfie are seated side-by-side at a bar. Each has a mug of beer in front of him.

Simultaneously, three flies land in the beers, one in each mug.

The Mainlander looks at his beer, pushes it away and asks the bartender for a new one.

The Nova Scotian reaches his fingers into the beer, picks up the fly, throws it to the floor and drinks his beer.

The Newfie reaches into the beer, picks up the fly, holds it over the glass and yells, “Spit it out, you bastard! Spit it out!”

Saturday Funny

An elderly man in Louisiana had owned a large farm for several years.

He had a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed
it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over.

He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.

As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, 'we're not coming out until you leave!'

The old man frowned, 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.'

Holding the bucket up he said,
'I'm here to feed the alligator...'

Some old men can still think fast.

For Realz!

Some years ago, Stan married an attractive woman, Aggie, half his age, in a small coastal Newfoundland community. After several months, Aggie complained that she had never climaxed during sex and according to her Grandmother all Newfoundland women are entitled to a climax at least once in a while.
To resolve the problem, they went to see the Veterinarian since there was no trustworthy doctor anyw
here on the Burin Peninsula . The Vet didn't have a clue, but he did recall how, during the hot summer, his mother and father would fan a cow that was having difficulty breeding, with a big towel. This would cool her down and make her relax. He told them to hire a strong, virile young man to wave a big towel over them while they were having sex. This, the Vet said, would cause the young wife to cool down, relax, then climax.

The couple hired a strong young man from Port Aux Basques to wave that big towel over them as the Vet suggested. After many efforts, Aggie still had not climaxed so they went back to the Vet. The Vet said for Aggie to change partners and let the young man have sex with her while Stan waved the big towel. They tried it that night and Aggie went into wild, screaming, ear-splitting climaxes, one right after the other for about two and a half hours.

When it was over, Stan looked down at the exhausted young man and in a boasting voice said:"And that, me son, is how ya waves a fockin' towel!"

Sunday

Happy Sunday folks.  It was a relatively nice weekend.  Well my child was a handful during the day on Saturday, but went to a sleep-over and we all got a break from each other.

Tomorrow I am starting a 30 Day Cleanse.   IsaGenix

Here are my goals.

1.   lost 15 pounds. (brings me to 185)
2.   follow the program to a T
3.   share the program with as many people as I can.

Not only is this program an amazing detoxing and fat-burning system, but the online support is amazing.  I belong to several online support groups on FB and they are there for any questions I might have and support me thru this part of my journey.

On top of that, the earning potential is amazing!  I just wish I could get my team started.  Haven't found the right people yet!  ARG!

Well, lead my example I guess..:)

However, the family has decided to try this for supper tonight...a pizza from pizza hut...hot dog stuffed crust...omg...my arteries are hardening while I type!  But everything in moderation, and I will not be eating like that in these next 30 days, so it's all good!

I just learned today that I can do an "all-shake day" on this program.  So instead of the one 400-600 calories meal, I will have 2 shakes, 4 shakes in total.  I have decided that I will do this on my hot yoga day (Tuesday), as opposed to doing a deep cleanse on that day.  Then I will do the deep cleanse on Wednesday & Thursday and that works out just great for me.  Wednesday is ariel yoga and Thursday day is reformer chair pilates.  I have done deep cleanses for both those classes with no issues.

The Walking Dead is on tonight.  I LOVE THIS SHOW!  I have to also say that I love my DVR.  I would miss all my shows if not for that.  Funny thing is, the whole reason I got the machine was to record The Biggest Loser....turns out the new season wont start airing til JANUARY 2013!  But it's all good because I am watching all of the Lost Girl episodes before the new season starts.  We also record Grimm, Survivor and tons of kids shows.  Beauty!

Anywho, got chores to finish.  See you on the flip side!

TGIF

So..here I sit...time counting down my time.  It was a long week.  My work-place was involved in a table discussion to try to make the office function better.  It was just one step in the process but a very emotional one.  I hope it works.

My industriousness of last weekend on the quest to earn some money to buy a LuLu Lemon sweater thingie kinda backfired on me.  I did sell maybe 1 dozen of them and make a bit of money, but I ate more than I sold, and well...I gained weight.  All that white flour and sugar and butter...yup...right to my gut.  My pants are all too tight and my belly is bloated.

The key for success for me is to plan. I guess that is everyone's key really. Some people seem to be ok without it, but that is not me.

Ok..plan my day...I have that done already actually.  I have a great nutrional program already, one that allows me to not even think about what I am eating, just follow the plan.

(there goes my 5 minute timer!)

IsaGenix is amazing.  But my willpower when it comes to sweets is not so much.  I HAVE to be regimented in order to succeed.  I am also determined to reach my scale goal SOON!  I just keep ticking like a Timex watch!

I will leave you with a pic I took of myself recently!

Well trying again to write a blog

I have a strong desire to write, yet I am afraid to start.  What if it is no good anyway?  Why bother? Well that's my inner brat talking to me, I don't know her name, but FlyLady let me know of her existence!

So I decided I was just a timer for 5 minutes...just 5 minutes...and blog.  So, I just turned the timer on and have my thinking cap on.

And about blogs....I mean....lots of people spend time writing and honing their writing, and I always thought that blogging was sorta off the cuff and on the spot.  I think I will Google blog and see what I get...brb...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

So I guess the term blog covers a wide variety of types.  Mine is a type of  online diary, so very informal.  Well that works for me for now.

Been struggling with lots of things lately, losing weight, eating, work.  I feel like I am trying to swim up a water-fall.  What I need to do is turn around and go with the flow, not against.  Working thru it may help.  I may reach an epiphany while I am here.  Here's hoping.

I'm been trying to make a little but of extra money by selling baked goods...haven't really hit on the best one yet, but I have only tried tea buns and shortbread cookies.  Oh and home-made bread too. The ad on FB ( has only been up for a few hours.  I'm trying to find something that I can make cheaply, and quickly.  It doesn't make too much sense to spend hours and tons of time on something you really can't sell for a lot..baking...lol.  Maybe fudge?

Well there goes my timer.  If anyone reads this and has a suggestion of baking that you would buy, just to give me an idea of what people like and want, that would be so great if you would leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading.

TBL Tuesday

Been a few days since I have posted. Missed one breakfast on Sunday morning..I blame it on the time change! Had 3 social events in a row and I over indulged on all 3, although not nearly as much as I have in the past, so I am o.k. with that.

Been preparing my food the night before so I have enough healhy foods to get thru the day. I did great yesterday actually up until dessert....my birthday boy and I shared a piece of cheesecake...it was sooooooooooooo good!

Been doing good so far...but it's only 12:30pm! Had oatmeal for breakfast, then some Holy Crap with hemp milk. I have also eaten carrots and yellow pepper with humus. And of course, my trusty cuppa green tea...this time it is Lipton Green Tea Superfruit, Black Currant with Vanilla. Very tasty with a lil agave syrup.

5 workouts in so far this month, with 8 to go to make it a full month. I'd say I'm doing good mostly. Gotta keep the nutrition on track because I got the workouts covered!

I discovered a gluten free website today that I am hoping to get some help from.

http://www.glutenfreeliving.com/index.php

Sorry but I cant seem to insert an url for some reason, so please just copy and paste!

The Biggest Loser is on tonight...some of those girls now weigh less than I do, but they still look pretty big. The one things that gets me is they never tell you how TALL the girls are. I mean I am 5'8" and when I was 225, not one could really tell, because I "carried it well". Now that I am 194 (as of this morning) people still have a hard time believing me about my number.

No gym for me today. My trainer Shelly kicked my ass yesterday, as she always does. If I was 20 years younger, I would workout everyday. Of course, if I was that young I wouldn't have a million other things to do and therefore would have time to workout every day...oh to be 21 again! And now the things I know now! Life would be so different!

Oh and 1/2 the gyms in the world would have this sign!

Yukon Sunrise

TGIF

It's been a longish week....well the migraine didn't help but work has been really really slow as this is our slow period before people start building. It's good for getting all those small tasks done that I always put off...but once those are done..what then? Oh well, I haven't completely run out of things to do, just things I want to do!

I had my trusty gruel this morning..it was the best one so far since I started back eating breakfast....got the combination just right. The only problem is that these oats are *gasp* MINUTE OATS! But, they are not the instant little packages full of sugar and crap. I am some Vegan Becel margarine and a lil brown sugar et Voila!
I feel a little de ja vu here..have I mentioned this before???

Getting a bit of a break from parenting this weekend. The mini me is going to her spend the weekend with her dad. We will see how long it last, I told her she had to go for the whole weekend because she needed a break from us...and thought I didn't say it, we also needed a bit of a break from her.

She called as I was typing that last sentence to ask me if she really HAS to stay with her dad for the whole weekend. I told her to see how it goes once she gets out there (he lives on the AHN) and see if didn't feel differently about. I guess he got a new ski-doo the last time he was home (he works out of town for 2 months at a time). I really hope she stays the whole weekend. Truth be told, I need a break. Does that make me a bad mom? I love her so but sometimes she is so hard to deal with!

I took some nice pics of the sunrise this morning...I'll email them to myself so I can post them on here....so brb...:)

Thursday Thursday

Remember when Thursday was the day to hit the KK? Well maybe it still is...and I'm am just too old and out of the loop. No maybe about it, I am definitely out of the loop when it comes to the bar scene. Never really was in the loop much up here. Moved here in 1998, and spend a couple summers partying in the bars...the old 202 when 2-stepping was the thing. I still love to 2-step and if an opportunity presents itself I am in! I remember this old couple who was there EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT! They could barely move, but they still managed to cut a great rug! But I digress. Met my husband (now my ex) in 2000, got pregnant and then got married. That baby wasn't meant to be but the next one took much better and I became I mom in July of 2001. I couldn't have cared less about the bad after that.

Now the music is all DJs and dub-step and while I do love that music and listen to plenty of it at home, the idea of being in a loud, humid bar and try to dance on a completely packed dance floor with a bunch of kids 20 years my junior is not my idea of fun. Luckily, I don't have to anymore.

But invite me to my friends house, with good food, good company, a glass of wine or two and life is gooooooooooooooooooood! Now that I think about it, I think it's time to plan a girls night....

PS Day 8 of eating breakfast and I haven't missed a workout yet..:)

Oh Migraines..How I hate you

One of those nasty things struck me down yesterday..it was horrible. But I did manage to eat breakfast (oatmeal) at about 10am...and I had a good lunch of left-over turkey chili my money made on Monday...but the rest of the day was a bust, food wise. Potato chips, pizza pops and some fudge. No wonder I can't beat this plateau....ug. Feel like such a failure some days...but onwards and upwards right?

Also ate breakfast today..and just had a turkey chipotle bagel from Tim's..omg it was so good. Even thought I am allergic to the bagel, cheese and lil bit of mayo that was on it. Damn wheat allergies...I know if I would just cut it out completely from my diet, things will change. But when you have a family who eats all those things, it's hard to stay on the straight and narrow. I have done it and will do it again. I hope.

Monday, March 5, 2012

Oh Monday how I love to hate you!

Well, here we are back at Monday again. I definitely have a love-hate relationship with Mondays..go figure.

Let's see how the day started:

- got to sleep-in til 7 because it is Spring Break and I didn't have to get the mini-me out of bed

- got some extra puppy snuggles between 630 and 7 because I was still in bed.

- ATE BREAKFAST! (Day 5)

Pretty good way to start the day I reckon!

AND THEN!!!

- work is quiet so that is good

- got permission from the bank to defer some loan payments so I can get caught up on bills

- got my ass kicked at gym

- had a healthy post-workout meal of quinoa, turkey boob and asparagus.

and last but not least..drum roll please!

my honey is making supper...healthy chili..made with turkey (ground by hand by my honey as well) because silly me, I have a beef allergy...and I don't want to eat beef unless I know it had a life and wasn't killed in those torture houses...I mean slaughter houses...it's so horrible. I even apologized to a chicken breast a few weeks ago before I cooked it. I know it's just a chicken, but they should be allowed to feel grass under their little feets too.

I think I'm getting the hang of this blogging thing...now how the heck does a person make money doing this?

please read this and become informed!

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/jim-harris/robocalls-scandal_b_1305397.html

So far so good

So one of my goals for this month is to develop the habit of eating breakfast every day...today is the 4th and I just finished my bowl of oatmeal. Yes, I put brown sugar AND margarine on it (Vegan Becel). Big deal...the benefits of the oatmeal will FAR outweigh the minor non benefits of the little bit of sugar and marg. I know part of the issue of this plateau that I am on is...I haven't eaten breakfast in months. Hence my determination to make this a habit again.

Another goal is to make sure I don't miss any workouts this month but I've only had one workout so far this month. I am usually good about the workouts barring an illness this one will be met for sure. Next month, I will make it a goal to add another workout in on Saturday.

I am now having a green tea with a dab of honey in it. I try to drink at least one cup of green tea a day, but it's harder to manage to do that at home, so when I do, it's a good thing...:)

Really have to get my diet back on track...I know I don't eat enough. But there is so much that I have to avoid. It's very difficult. I know it's just a matter of planning..and making the time for the prep work. I am working on this as well this month. I really would like to meet my goal of 160 for the Big Day in August (getting hitched on the 19th). 192 yesterday morning...so 32 pounds in 6 months. I know it doesn't sound like much...but I haven't been able to get past 185 in like a year now, no joke....gotta change something up and this is the month I start..:)

Gotta go...gonna go soak in the hot tub....have a great morning everyone!

long time no write

Wow it's been almost a year since I have written anything here. I am hoping to become a more dedicated blogger about whatever strikes my fancy. The problem is I get inspired to write late at night when I am already in bed...what's up with that? I wish I could telepathically record my thoughts so that A) my deepest thoughts and ideas aren't lost while I sleep..and B) I could sleep w/o worrying about forgetting the brilliant things I came up with as I was falling asleep! Kinda the same thing I know...but they are completely related.

So here is my linked in profile if anyone wants to link to me.
